The worldwide press has called YESTER, BELLAND & SOMERVILLE “The Three Tenors of Pop” and declared them “a rare combination of hits and history that we may never see the likes of again”. Critics have lauded their performances as “compelling”, “breath-taking” and “simply awesome”!
Looking at their individual accomplishments, it’s little wonder that this unique musical collaboration inspires such acclaim. As Dick Clark put it, each time they step on stage audiences "watch a little more history being made" as these three gifted entertainers add another exciting chapter to careers that span four decades of hits and over 100 million records including 39 hit singles, 15 gold and platinum albums, 13 Grammy, Golden Globe and Emmy nominations and the Freedom Foundation Presidential Medal of the Arts and induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Featuring the original lead singers and founding members from three of the music world's most successful recording groups -THE ASSOCIATION, THE FOUR PREPS & THE DIAMONDS - their sold out, critically acclaimed presentation of “An Evening of Triple Gold” has been heralded as “a powerhouse concert by three true legends” and “the best of classic American Pop presented with compelling entertainment values”.
JIM YESTER - is a founding member and original lead singer of THE ASSOCIATION, one of the music world's most acclaimed and influential acts. During their tenure as a concert and recording super-group, they accumulated 13 chart records including 10 Top Ten hits and 3 Number One recordings - "Cherish", "Windy", and "Never my Love" - the last of which has become the third most played song in all of popular music. As both a songwriter and performer, Jim has frequently been honored with Grammy and Golden Globe nominations, as well as a handful of Gold and Platinum records. He still counts as one of the most singular high points in his colorful and celebrated career, the fact that in 1967 THE ASSOCIATION displaced the Beatles in Billboard Magazine's Annual Poll as “The world's most popular recording group”, and he's lent his vocal talents to numerous albums by the renowned Modern Folk Quartet, and recently was a member of The Lovin' Spoonful.
BRUCE BELLAND – is the original lead singer of THE FOUR PREPS. He co-founded the group while attending Hollywood High School. THE FOUR PREPS went on to collect 8 gold singles, 3 gold albums and were honored by Billboard Magazine as “The Country’s Number One Concert Attraction” for 3 consecutive years in the 1960s. In addition to co-writing THE FOUR PREPS memorable string of hits, his songs have been recorded by numerous artists including Willie Nelson, Johnny Mathis, Roy Clark, Sammy Davis, Jr., Lena Horne, Donny Osmond, T.G. Shepard, Herman's Hermits, the Mouseketeers and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. One of the most sought after writers in Hollywood, he's created specialty material for Johnny Carson, Chevy Chase, Bob Newhart, Tim Conway, Steve Allen, and The Smothers Brothers. He’s also scripted feature films and several Broadway productions. He's received three Emmy nominations, produced over 1,000 hours of television, been a senior NBC programming executive, done countless voices for animated features including the Disney classic, "Jungle Book", co-starred for four years on the "Ozzie and Harriet" show and in the original “Gidget” movie with Sandra Dee. He is the co-author of the Official Anthem of the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution for which he was awarded the Presidential Medal of the Arts and cited in the Congressional Record.
DAVE SOMERVILLE – is the Canadian-born original lead singer and founding member of THE DIAMONDS featured on 16 Top Forty records with sales in excess of 30 million units, and also a mainstay of THE FOUR PREPS in the 1960s. His hits included such pop music milestones as "Little Darlin"', the 12th biggest selling record of 1957, the first rock'n'roll record with a latin beat and the first hit pressed on a "45"; as well as "The Stroll", the best selling dance record of the decade. From the inception of Rock'n'Roll, Dave and THE DIAMONDS contributed greatly to it's evolution, a fact that was recently underscored by their induction into The Canadian Musical Hall of Fame, The Vocal Group Hall Of Fame, The Rockabilly Hall Of Fame, and The Do-Wopp Hall Of Fame. Somerville toured by Greyhound with such legends as Buddy Holly & The Crickets, Eddie Cochran, LaVern Baker, Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, Paul Anka, Frankie Lymon, Buddy Knox, Jimmy Bowen & The Rhythm Orchids, The Drifters, Clyde McFatter, Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis on the first major Rock'n'Roll "Show Of Stars". He has appeared on TV specials with Tony Bennett, Bill Cosby, Perry Como, Steve Allen and The Smothers Brothers. In addition to his musical achievements, he has acted in countless dramatic roles on such shows as "Star Trek", "The Fall Guy", "Quincy", "McCloud" and "General Hospital", and is one of the most in-demand voice-over artists in Hollywood. He has written songs for Willie Nelson, Lena Horne and Dennis Weaver, as well as the title song for the smash TV series "The Fall Guy". Dave currently has a song he recorded with The Jordanaires, "What Would I Do Without My Music", climbing up the internet charts.
Perhaps no one has summed up the impact of YESTER, BELLAND & SOMERVILLE more effectively than Dick Clark who, after seeing one of their TRIPLE GOLD performances, wrote: “Take the cream from three history-making groups, put them on stage together and you've got magic. When it comes to hit records, these guys helped write the book, and now their performances are adding another exciting chapter. Catch this act and watch a little more history being made!”
