During the summer of 2001 a guy called Wolfgang Vanwymeersch comes to the city of Ghent on a mission: writing down-to-earth, yet infectious poptunes. Grounding on his musical roots like them Beatles, early Bowie and Sex pistols, he creates songs that combine sweet catchiness and twisted harshness.

He starts recording some lo-fi tapes at home and soon finds band/soulmates in Stephane Misseghers, Steven Janssens and David Dumont. Three Ghent-based musicians that play or played in bands such as Soulwax, Mauro/The Whodads and Massis.

The new formed band Waldorf finishes off Wolf's early rough draughts and records them for a first demo. The music still holds that slack atmosphere but funny enough collides with certain epic or dramatic escapades. "Lo fi meets Bombast", if you want.

Rif Raf magazine on the Waldorf self titled debut: "Witty rock from Ghent. The songs contain smart and varied popmelodies, still never losing the intensity of a heavy driven rocksong."

Awaiting a first official release in 2003, the Waldorfians are above all playing live. In the fall of 2002 they play support acts and late night shows with a.o. Suede and Enon and gig around in the Belgian and Dutch club circuit (AB, Effenaar, 4AD, Monty). Halfway February 2003 Waldorf heads for a short club tour in Switzerland.

With a new line-up, Brecht Decroos on drums and temporary bassist Paul Lamont (Hitch), the band gets ready for some summer live action and the recording of a first single to be released in fall 2003. The release of their no titled album was a fact in March 2005 and gets released in Germany by Supermusic in distribution by Alive and promoted by King Ink Promotions.
