TRIO ODINO (Lonnie Svilling-flute, Lasse Tajmer-guitar, and Anne Vilain Tajmer-cello) was formed in 1989. All three have achieved diploma standard at the Funen College of Music, Odense. They have all taken part in masterclasses both in Denmark and Abroad, and have several times been featured as soloists and chamber musicians by Danish Television and Radio. Trio Odino has also performed a number of specially-cornissioned works.
Trio Odino is the only firmly established Scandinavian trio to have its particular combination of instruments. The combination of flute, guitar and cello is untraditional within classical music, thus offering a new ensemble sound. The instruments complement each other and allow each other space, which gives rise to many possibilities of varying the acoustic image.
This can be heard both in older music, where the flute features as solo instrument and guitar & cello have a continuo-like function, as in more contemporary music, where all three instruments are on an equal musical footing.
Trio Odino has caught peoples attention by virtue of its well-conceived, wide-ranging concert programme, which, for the audience, means meeting both known and unknown composers from the period stretching from 1607 to 1995. This has led to the trio being invited to play in many Danish churches and at music societies, as well as to a concert tour in Latvia in 1994, where one of their performances was in the Wagner Hall in Riga. In 1996, the trio went on a short tour to Germany, playing in such cities as Stralsund and Flensburg. Danmarks Radio P2 (music channel) also broadcast a concert performance by the trio in the same year.
Trio Odino issued a CD in 1994 which has given rise to many appreciative words in the press. It consists entirely of original works that, with few exceptions, have never before been recorded. The CD was recorded by Søren Buhl and issued by the recording company Barbarossa (Babra 1494). In August 1996, the "Shapes and Shades" CD was issued, comprising music dedicated to Trio Odino by Lars Kr. Hansen, Ole Buck and Lars Hegaard. This CD was produced with financial support from Danish Music Council and Danish Composers Society.
