One of the most beautiful Belgian instrumental rock albums until today” (Rifraf)
But where most of the bands (even the greatest like s Explosions In The Sky en Mono) have ceased to blow new life in to the genre, transit has surprisingly succeeded in carefully drawing out some new potential paths for the genre (Goddeau)
'Whitewater' is without doubt one of the finest (semi-)instrumental guitar albums of 2008!
Well founded and spacious instrumentals that slowly pick up their pace, make their way through several unpredictable, organic and intense themes and end in powerful crescendos. 7 diverse tracks that never bore. Besides guitars the group uses a piano, melodic, vibraphone and violin. The track ‘thor’ is even built up around vocals; a moving and successful experiment with choirs and vocals ending in a religious-like climax. ‘maribor’is characterized by a binding drum riff en would, if vocals were added, be a catchy indie rock song. The nearly 15 minute long ‘january’ slowly builds up to an exhausting climax where you literally hear the band hit the ground worn out and desperate. The fragile and breathtaking coda ‘lucas’ ends the album’s musical trip: a coda that starts as a casual variation to ’Silent Night, Holy Night’, but swells on to an inspiring modern classical piece; One of the most beautiful Belgian instrumental rock albums until this day
