This is the first true jazz album made by Toots Thielemans, the man who virtually intoduced the harmonica as a jazz instrument.

Jean Toots Thielemans virtually intoduced the chromatic harmonica as a jazz instrument and his performances can be heard on some of the best selling pop records of the last century. In his own name, Thielemans is best known for his 1961 hit record “Bluesette” where he was whistling along with his guitar, but his favourite instrument was always the harmonica.

Images is very much the first and best true jazz album that Thielemans made. Recorded in 1974, Thielemans spent a long time deciding on who should be in the band. The key musician was always going to be a pianist Joanne Brackeen, with whom he had spent an afternoon improvising. Also in the band came Freddie Waits on drums and Cecil McBee on bass.

Images is a great jazz album from a master of his instrument, and the most representative album he ever made.
