When you hear Tony Vic’s music you wonder how someone so musically talented could excel in so many other categories as well. Born in San Francisco, raised in Oakland and schooled in Los Angeles, the West Coast has not only helped shape him as a man, but also as a multidimensional artist. With a diverse roster of musical influences such as DJ Quik, Stevie Wonder, Slick Rick, Tupac, E-40, Kanye West and Lauryn Hill it's clear that his sound cannot be limited to one particular area or style. Tony Vic’s music has mass appeal to all ages and all genre’s ranging from the 11 yr old pop fan who sings along with all the lyrics to the hardcore hip hop/R&B club-going crowd.
His love for performing live and his destiny for fame was set when, at the early age of 8 he starred in an elementary school play as one of the California Raisins. During the next five years, his professional career emerged as he and 2 others formed the R/B group BOB (Boys of Badness) performing regularly with “Immature” at several LA venues. Tony Vic also appeared in videos with Destiny’s Child, Master P, and others well-known artists. During this time, Tony Vic appeared on Soul Train as a regular dancer for five consecutive seasons.
In the mid 90’s, Tony Vic and three Los Angeles natives formed Pidade, a hip-hop/R&B group that became well known Doing shows from Washington to Florida touring with big names such as E-40, Too-Short, Juvenile and more. Pidade performed and worked closely with many well-known musicians such as American Idol star, La Toya London who for a short time was considered one of the members of the group. Pidade also created three videos, one of which starred Bad Boy artist Ricky Bell (who also appeared on the album).
Tony Vic, after a long fruitful career of performing and touring with different groups is now working solo with his debut “Vic(s)tor(y) Album due to release in early 2006. With a growing fan base, melodic beats and catchy hooks, Tony Vic is already impacting the music industry as we know it today. While he readily admits that he likes to party and creates songs that reflect that, he also brings much needed depth back to the urban music scene.
