Neo soul singer/songwriter/producer Toni ''Mantana''Williams grew up in Portland Jamaica, listening to soul, pop, rnb music from Motown to the pop 80s hits days of the Hit Factory, as well as listening to jazz and rock on the radio. Born Delroy Williams, he began acting at five and writing songs, singing in his church choir which won him a ‘Youth Of Christ Award’ at the age of eleven. After appearing in the hit Jamaican family TV series ‘Something Fishy’ and attending various acting schools in Jamaica,Toni spent most of his childhood years in the Caribbean making music at his home and local studios while living with his parents working and making money from his acting. His demo tapes, which he worked on with his childhood friends Michael Williams from Jamaica who he later met in London in the 90s, made waves around the London city, receiving a lot of radio airplay on both national and local radio stations, he describes his sound as unique and fresh, blending rnb, folk, reggae and soul together to get his sound. Toni spent time collaborating with London hip-hop group High Rollers and rapper J.Guard, appearing in various commercials for Bacardi and Virgin mobile. He also performed at the Jamaica National Conference 2005 in London and was a backing singer for the infamous soul legends The Drifters during their England tour. Toni landed big gigs in the London city and worked with gospel singer Jennifer Phillips. Almost signed to Sony on the strength of his songwriting and performance skills, Toni released various singles on white labels and took a break to settle and work in Scotland, his Ep 2Face followed in 2005 after returning to London.
