The Mob was formed in August 2006 as the band Drawlstring, with Nick Mancinelli on vocals and lead guitar and Andrew Rutkove on rhythm guitar. They quickly came up with two tracks, "Rockstar" and "Lawnmower" which would become the basis of the group's early sound. Rutkove also introduced the first versions of "It's A Shame," "Hard To Ignore," and "Besides The Point." The band played its first show in September 2006, playing without a drummer, and enduring many technical difficulties and problems playing the songs. In October 2006, Andrew Lambe joined Drawlstring as the bass guitarist, and later that month, drummer Tony Scordino joined. Mancinelli then began work on the band's debut album. The album, titled "It's A Shame," was slated for release on June 27, 2007. During this period, this incarnation of Drawlstring played its only show, at the 2006 Montrose Battle of the Bands. Over time, the album release date was continuously moved forward, and eventually Mancinelli released the album on January 13, 2007 after a conflict over the finalized recordings with Rutkove. Rutkove subsequently left the band, leaving the remaining three members seemingly without a future, due to bassist Lambe's inability to attend many practices/shows. The band played opened a show for The Rot in January, with only Mancinelli and Scordino present. After this gig, the band went on an indefinite hiatus. In March 2007, Cory Balliet joined as the new bassist, and Lambe switched to rhythm guitar. The band changed its name to THE MOB to forge a new identity and they have played a few show and begun re-recording "It's A Shame," since Balliet joined. In June 2007, the lineup was finalized with the addition of Jimmy Lozinak on rhythm guitar. Since Lozinak joined, THE MOB has recorded a debut EP available for sale on this website, and have played a handful of shows. They are currently looking for more shows, are want to be booked by anyone and everyone.
