This large Collegiate Concert Choir is chosen by personal audition and is the premiere performing ensemble at York College. Members are required to meet a rigid rehearsal schedule in addition to maintaining a high scholastic grade point average. The combination of dedication and hard work gives the Concert Choir a closeness found in few other campus groups. They travel thousands of miles per year representing York College, and York's music department, and the choral arts. They have performed in many of our United States, in Canada, and abroad. Their reputation for choral excellence is well known, and is recognized internationally. They have been selected to perform for the NMEA state music conference. They have also appeared at the state conventions of the Nebraska Choral Directors Association and the Nebraska Intercollegiate Choral Festival. The Concert Choir has, on more than one occasion, performed with the Omaha Symphony Chamber Orchestra. The Concert Choir has taken concert tours and made mission trips to the nation of Japan. Each fall the Concert Choir prepares sacred acappella literature for its January tour. In the spring the Concert Choir prepares accompanied repertoire for annual spring concerts. The group is comprised of freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior students with a wide variety of academic majors. The York College Concert Choir is highly respected for its level of choral artistry, as you will attest after listening to this fabulous collection.
