Vancouver’s beloved Spitfires have been defined as a brash combination of 70’s rock and punk - AC DC meets the Sex Pistols. Defined because of the bands snot nose, musical mixture of piss and vinegar. Between 1998-2003 The Spitfires released three full length LPs, four 7 inches, and appeared on over 14 compilations and videos and on various labels worldwide.

The band has toured the US and Canada extensively as well as the UK before making a premature departure from the scene late in 2003. After a 2 year hiatus, current members; Jason Solyom, (vocals) CC Voltage, (bass) Mr. Dean O, (guitar) Marty Peters, (drums) with the addition of new axe grinder Marcel La Fleur, look to reclaim their stake in the arena of rock and roll.

The bands last full-length release titled “Three” was recorded and produced by local studio veteran Howard Redekop (54-40/New Pornographers/The Organ). A video for “Headcase” from “Three”, produced and directed by Danny Nowak of “Hard Core Logo and Barenaked In America fame” was released.

After the release of “Three,” The Spitfires went on a tear, attracting The Agency Group who secured the band headlining slots for Chart Magazine showcases at Canadian Music Week and North By Northeast in Toronto. That same year, the Spits also garnered enough attention to secure a slot on the annual compilation released by local rock radio station CFOX/99.3. The band was 1 of 6 bands chosen out of over 600 submissions for the contest.

The Spitfires have always prided themselves on their tradition of dynamic and energetic live shows. They look to continue their resurgence with a series of West Coast dates in the coming months. The Spits are also currently hashing out fresh new material with anticipation of a new record to be released by the fall of 2006.
