The Last People On Earth are a band from Hull, sounding like a hybrid of The Doors and Colloseum meet Jeff Buckley on a hyperdelic rock ’n’ soul ride to the neo-psychedelia paisley underground. Consisting of drums, bass, piano, organ, synth, guitar and 2 vocals the band put on a lively dynamic show and played over 30 gigs last year. Achieving a fantastic response from venues such as The Grapes (Sheffield), Junktion7 (Nottingham), Vine (Leeds), Sweet-n-Sour (Hull), Brixton Jam (London). The band was voted "best performance" at Carling Leeds Festival (Lee Sounds Stage) by the BBC Radio Humberside Raw Talent Poll, and runners up in the "best session" & "best track".
“Electric Angel” is a varied, flowing, concept album of sorts, set in the near future about a boy who can’t feel. It combines the best of Pompei era Floyd with Brian Wilson vocal melodies. Topped off with music hall whimsy and funk and electro flourishes this record has all the hallmarks of a classic concept album, yet manages to sound utterly contemporary.
The band’s gigs, as anyone who saw them play at Leeds Festival recently will testify, are fun-fuelled psychedelic parties, kind of like a budget version of the Flaming Lips live experience. They will be playing a selection of dates to promote the album.
Already championed by Radio One’s Huw Stephens, the band (named after a comic strip) would love to welcome you aboard their neo-psychedelic trip. Hop aboard shipmates!
