From recording and producing live bands in the studio, to working with vintage archive material — with the expertise to get classic punk sounds, or the subtle nuances of ambient and classical music — Ted St.Pierre has the knowledge and experience to create a working enviornment where
musicians can create their best work, and he makes the technical aspects of the recording seem easy and effortless — transparent to the listener, as music production should be. St.Pierre's Outlook studio was the first 24-track studio in Maine in the 1980’s. Built into an original 1830 New England farmhouse and surrounded by a private wildlife refuge, it is the ultimate “home” studio —created at a time when the concept of a home studio was not even a distant technological dream. Over the years Ted has recorded everything from Rock and Roll Hall of Famers to local beginning songwriters; worked for major, international, national, and indie labels; created music for theatrical productions; and engineered live recordings of music and humor in front of audiences in the studio.
Some of Ted’s recordings and productions have become underground classics, in particular recordings of legendary bands from the heyday of Boston punk. He also produces all of the releases
for the smasheasy® label, owned and managed by his wife, new age/ambient composer, Conni St.Pierre. From the “smash” of metal to the “easy” of new age, the smasheasy® releases have also found their way into independent film soundtracks.
Ted's debut album release, "Gridless," showcases his multi-instrumental talents on guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, with tastefully combined influences ranging from jazz to rock and blues.
