Formed in 2002 by a young group of punk and ska fanatics, Winnipeg's SubCity Dwellers set out to play ska music unlike what any other band in Canada was playing. It's not that they were trying to revolutionize the genre, it's just that while other bands were taking a crack at 3rd/4th (or is it 5th???) wave ska, the Dwellers yearned to bring back some of the street elements, both musically and lyrically, brought forth by early British and American bands. While their core ska and punk influences like The Clash, Skoidats, Inspecter 7, Rancid, and the Specials provide the foundation for their sound, the band also seemlessly blends in jazz, blues, and dub styles to thoroughly devastate every dance floor they encounter! If you've been waiting for ages to hear rabble-rousing ska played with an edge again, the SubCity Sound is here and sounding better than ever!
