"I have always been captivated by Fred Astaire, by the elegance of his dancing and singing - even by his walk," says Stacey.
"Everything about Fred Astaire is infused with an irresistible, infectious joy. He also creates such a sense of intimacy that when listening to him, I feel as if he is singing for me alone. A perfect story-teller, he never intervenes between the listener and the music but rather, through his effortless delivery, allows the song to tell its own story. This is one of the reasons why composers such as Irving Berlin and the Gershwins loved to write for him. Jerome Kern once said he would rather hear Fred Astaire sing his songs than anyone else.
