Kevin Lee learned guitar by playing songs from a hymnal with his roommate, Josh Ahlensberg, showing him how to finger the chords. Years later they are still playing music together. Josh traded his '93 Toyota Tercel for a '77 Gibson Les Paul around the same time Kevin began writing songs. There has never been a better reason to start a band. Over the years Josh was able to develop his distinctly subtle, moody electric playing behind the songs Kevin was finishing. They called it Silver Darling and in November of 2006 they asked Kevin's long time friend and ex-band mate, Jesse Phillips, if he would play some bass and sing high-harmonies on a couple tunes. During the first rehearsal it was obvious he would need to stay with the band.
Wrap Around My Heart is Silver Darling's first recording. It was recorded by the band in the foothills of California at Jesse's father's studio. It features sparse, sonically rich, folk arrangements of original material. The songs center around the truth that is lost in this life.
Kevin got his childhood friend, and professional graphic artist, Ian Ingalls to design the hand-drawn cover. They took it to Asbestos Press of Sacramento to hand screen the art. One Saturday, in an old Sacramento Victorian house, a dozen people sat down to fold paper and wrap red twine around 500 copies of a record entirely made with the bare hands of friends.
Wrap Around My Heart is released in the Spring of 2008 by Crossbill Records in preparation for their debut full length Album "Your Ghost Fits My Skin".
