It’s been quite a long time since an American dance act stepped up to take the world by storm. We’re talking about the type of act that has the complete package: the look, the feel, and most importantly, the sound. These days, it's one thing to rock a club with groundbreaking tracks, but add to that the ability to deliver great vocal tunes AND perform them live on stage; then you have Second Sun. Having previously made noise around the world with a series of in-demand singles, Second Sun is now one of the most talked about American dance acts of 2005.

Second Sun (aka Antoine and Adam) first met in a Montreal music store and immediately merged their studios together to start working together. Their musical connection was instant. They both had been playing and studying music since they were kids, playing in different bands and spending countless hours not only practicing different instruments, but also learning how to write and record songs. The result: a record deal with Paul Van Dyk, one of the world's biggest names in dance, with only their first track! Van Dyk not only released Empire on his highly respected Vandit label, but also remixed the track and featured it on his critically acclaimed Politics of Dancing compilation in 2001. With support from the world's most renowned DJs, that track alone was enough for the dance scene to take notice of Second Sun.

Then came the time for Paul Van Dyk's much anticipated second artist album, Reflections. He chose to turn to Second Sun for a collaboration which lead to Crush, a worldwide hit that made it all the way to the #1 spot on the U.K. Dance Charts, had a whole generation of clubbers chanting the hook "I know you want me" and in the end, the album got nominated for a Grammy award. Not bad for only their second single!

When their magical third single The Spell came out, it was enough for people to see that Second Sun was way beyond a one-hit wonder. Indeed, they released their debut album Inside Out in North America in 2005. With a rare quality of song writing, exciting remixes like the one summoned by M for his 1979 new wave hit Pop Muzik, surprising collaborations ranging from the duet with '80s teen superstar Tiffany to a bunch of L.A. school children, and the banging club tracks people have come to expect from Second Sun, the critics were unanimous: "Clubland's newest superstars" - URB Magazine, "Second Sun is paving the exploration of an entirely modern Trance" – BPM magazine, "A trance knock-out" – DJ Times and the list goes on…

Then, the demand grew bigger and bigger to see these guys perform on stage. Antoine & Adam had only played a few select dates in Berlin alongside Paul Van Dyk, at the time choosing to focus on their studio work more than live shows. But when the summer of 2005 rolled in, it was time to unleash the beast! The boys hopped on a tour bus and took to the road, blowing the roof off such renowned clubs as Spundae & Godskitchen in Los Angeles, 1015 in San Francisco, The Church in Denver and Vision in Chicago. We're talking about a full-on live show here, with live vocals and enough energy to get crowds of thousands of people jumping up and down with sheer excitement. "This is what the scene needs,” said Music Choice after seeing them in Miami. "An electrifying, unpredictable and energizing show" exclaimed DJ Times. "Not since The Prodigy have electronica artists been such engaging crowd pleasers" wrote Dancemusic.about.com. "A hard-driving, sexy performance that leaves you wondering how only two people can put forth such energy" said Internet DJ after their album release party in New York. Perhaps Remix Magazine said it best when they wrote:

"What's remarkable is that these next of breed boys can actually produce, write,
remix and perform just about everything they dream up. Front man Antoine puts a
charismatic face to the group that's only out shown by his utter enthusiasm to
get your feet off the floor. Second Sun fronts synthesizers and machines with
such showmanship that you just always want more. With this electrifying,
unpredictable and energizing show, these rock stars had the crowd "second
stunned!!"

So, what's next for Second Sun? Well now that they're one of the most in demand American live dance acts, Antoine & Adam's life is now partly on the road, playing shows every month, with plans to tour Europe, South America and Asia. Paul Van Dyk is now the #1 DJ in the world, so you can be sure that with support from almost all the other heavy-hitters as well, Second Sun's upcoming single release Playground on his label Vandit will not go unnoticed. There was a time when producers were the mysterious, unknown people behind the music that the DJs were playing. That time is over.
