Although originally from Santa Cruz, California, where she grew up singing jazz professionally from the age of 16, Sasha Dobson, 26, now lives in New York City, performing original songs (by her and her band) in clubs around the Lower East Side.

As the daughter of the late piano great Smith Dobson, and acclaimed singer Gail Dobson, jazz runs in Sasha's blood. She has been singing jazz and performing since the age of five. She knows the language, and she's natural and spontaneous, which makes her a refreshing find today, and a clear standout in a field too often dominated by pop singers. Her authentic sound has quickly made her a favorite among other musicians around New York. She works frequently both in New York and in the San Francisco Bay area, and she is often heard at Smalls in front of the Chris Byars Octet.
