Søren Bødker Madsen was bom in 1956. He trained under Maria Kämmerling and Leif Christensen at Royal Academy of Music where he took a diploma and examination in musical theory in 1982. He continued his studies in the soloist class at Musik-Akadamie der Stadt Basel, and later in Konrad Ragossnig's concert class at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. Here he was awarded an unanimous vote of excellence at his final examination. Søren Bodker Madsen has supplemented his education with study periods at the Music Conservatory in Prague under Stepan Rak, and participated in master classes under tuition of Oscar Ghiglia, John Williams and Karl Sheit. In 1986 he won first prize at the Intemational Kutna Hora guitar competition in Czechoslovakia in which over 100 guitarists participated. As a solist and a member of Den Danske Guitarduo Søren Bødker Madsen has produced several CDs, and given an extensive series of concerts both at home and abroad. Since 198l he has been a teacher at Kolding Kommunale Musikskole, and has taught the guitar and musical education at Roval Academy of Music. During the late 1990s he co-authored a series of teaching books entitled Spil Guitar.
