Toronto's wayward punks!

"I'm sick of peace and quiet / all we want is riot, riot, riot." is the battle cry of Toronto's wayward punks, Riot99! Described as 'putting the bollocks back into punk', R99 have been slugging it out in the Trenches of Toronto for 3 years now. In that time they have independantly released an incredible 7" EP, been interviewed by and taped for a segment on MuchMusic, played and interviewed on CFNY - 102.1FM the Edge, recorded a live CD as a benefit for CIUT - 89.5FM, been featured in Maximum Rock'n'Roll (the world's most prominent and authoritative punk magazine), and this past summer they embarked on a successful 3 week cross-country tour with label-mates the Wednesday Night Heroes. While in Edmonton on that tour, their debut full-length was recorded by the masterful Nik Kozub, who has also produced the Cleats, the Wednesday Night Heroes, Wreckdefy and Captain Tractor to name a few.
The Current line-up of Riot99 reads like a who's who of streetpunk. On lead vocals is the enigmatic Drew, a native of Australia and former member of Stanley Knife and Com-Frac, both of which made appearances on the popular Punks, Skins and Herberts comps. This is how Drew first met Taras, formerly on drums with Canadian punk/oi! anti-heros the Glory Stompers who were also on the same aforementioned compilation. Since the Glory Stompers, Taras was the front man for the short-lived but brilliant Blatherskites. Rounding out the band is Andy on guitar, the young punk rock guitar prodigy; even Johnny Thunders in his prime would be amazed at the licks this kid has! Filling out the rhythm section on bass, James has cut his musical teeth in many of Toronto's finest rock-a-billy bands over the years.
Having started to earn the respect they deserve, Riot99 have been making appearances on some compilations and have been invited to be part of the 2nd Terrors of the Town compilation of all Toronto-area bands. Along with this growing profile, a full radio & media promotion and advertising campaign is underway with ads in publications such as Punk Planet, Caustic Truths, Razorcake, AMP and the Nerve this winter.
