"i love harmony so much - i hear it in the vacuum cleaner, when I turn on the computer... it’s everywhere.
i grew up in cleveland heights, ohio. my relationship with music began at the age of 10, belting show tunes and writing songs in my bedroom… i had friends who told me about a musical theatre arts camp where i began to sing and dance in plays… acting later called me to new york city, at 18, where i studied with an array of teachers. I continued to sing and began writing songs, joining several singing groups and performing jazz on occasion…
i then moved to los angeles in ‘92 to star in an independent film… i quickly found a community of singer/songwriters and started singing backup for various bands as well as having a weekly show singing jazz at the pearl… i have gratefully sung on many cd’s and stages with many talented musicians including alexi murdoch, peter bradley adams, dan bern, lizzie west, eastmountaisnouth and ann magnuson… venues I play include hotel café, house of blues, knitting factory, the mint, genghis cohen, the derby, tangier…my music has also be heard on stations such as 89.9 kcrw (los angeles) and 88.9 wers (boston) & radioio.com
one of my loves is to help organize benefits for organizations as well as house concerts, events which enable musicians to come together and share their art... i also find it to be a wonderful way to hear raw, intimate music…
my first cd was entitled "melancholy pop"… I think my music is both uplifting and sad at the same time… tracks were used on the tv series “roswell”, “wonderfalls”, and “party of five”… when I began writing my new cd -- "hopeful romantic" (to be released in early '07) -- i felt the music sounded a little more optimistic…the sounds a mix of organic folk, and electronic... or, as some call it, folktronica…most of the songs on the record are produced by bill lefler, with additional production by james hood… they, plus exec producer hugo vereker, and I reworked the record during the past year -- and then another event, of the joyful variety, delayed its release... the birth of my beautiful daughter, amelia!
we have already been blessed with a number of placements in film/tv/commercials... including the opportunity to write the song "something real" especially for the compelling movie "the dead girl", in theaters late december... "music 101" also appears in the film...
utterly random personal details: my favorite food is the olive… i love cats and have two… if i see a trampoline or moon bounce in the vicinity, i will leave the conversation and jump… o, and i live in a lower case world…"
