Considered by many as one of reigning bands of Prog-Rock royalty, England’s Renaissance made many successful and memorable music for their fans. Friday Music is now the home for some of their wonderful classic recordings.
Tuscany ( FRM 1015)
Recorded a few years ago, Renaissance journeyed to Kent, England to begin the sessions for this masterpiece and they delivered what we feel are some of their best music since their hugely successful Schehrazade, Ashes Are Burning and Novella albums.
The journey begins with the fine "Lady From Tuscany", complete with Haslam's soaring voice over an orchestral setting "Closer than anyone, Legend surrounds her, Water no fire, Lady like no other." The classic Renaissance sound truly returns with this magical track.
Roy Wood (The Move, ELO, Wizzard) has a guest appearance here on one of the more beautiful songs on the album "In The Sunshine." If there ever was a classic English countryside sound, this song will give the listener that wonderful vision. Complete with the wall of sound effect, the pounding rhythm and chorus, French
horns, "In The Sunshine" will leave the listener in awe of this legendary band. The emotional lyrics tell the story "So look into the sky, We share the moon and stars, For all eternity."
Gentle Annie Haslam operatic vocals with the magical guitar styling of Michael Dunford, along with Terrence Sullivan’s masterful percussive work, truly define memorable moments throughout this beautiful album
Tuscany is now released for their very loyal North American Renaissance fans. Complete with lyrics to sing along with and beautiful artwork from Spencer Zhan, Tuscany is truly a journey worth taking. Pour a glass and enjoy!
In The Land Of The Rising Sun- Live In Japan (FRM 2016)
In The Land Of The Rising Sun captures this classically trained rock band during their Tuscany tour in the Far East a couple of years ago. Complete with music from over three decades of smash albums and singles, Rising Sun had only been available as a very expensive import, but now Friday Music has released this incredible set in North America.
Annie Haslam's magical voice opens the disc with the seventies hit "Carpet Of The Sun." The familiar lyric and interplay with guitarist/composer Michael Dunford kicks this album into high gear as their Japanese fans applaud in approval. This classic track from the Ashes Are Burning , as well as every other tune from this live album receive the five star treatment as only Renaissance can provide.
Extensive productions like the 20 minute "Ashes Are Burning", "Mother Russia" and "A Trip To The Fair" will recall the glory days of progressive rock radio and how all of these songs were mandatory listening in their day. These latest arrangements will transport the listener to a time when album radio had no problem playing masterpieces like these. Now, you can enjoy them once again in their full digital glory.
In The Land Of The Rising Sun wouldn't be complete without the beautiful artwork by Renaissance's own Annie Haslam. Haslam is now an acclaimed artist throughout the world and you can visit her gallery on line at anniehaslam.com. Her art is wonderful eye candy and integrates wonderfully with the music on this extensive two-disc set.
