Formed in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in the late 1990's when the members' bands were breaking up (Nemesis Enforcer, the Griswolds, Scrapple, Integrity 2000), they started by writing aggressive Rock N Roll songs (ala Social D, GNR, Agent Orange) but it wasn’t happenin’: the hardcore and metal influences were too strong as was the net-working community of the PA hardcore scene. Within a year, they recorded an album and began playing shows frequently.
Breaking onto the local underground scene with a strong work DIY ethic, and an explosive live show The RedTops wasted no time taking their energy on the road. News of the band circulated throughout the Hardcore community word of mouth and the bands they shared the stage with gave much respect by helping them out with shows up and down east coast, and as far west as Chicago.
Racking up the miles in touring and sharing the stage with a multitude of national acts such as Murphy's Law, Madball, Integrity, Run Devil Run, State of Conviction, The Turbo AC’s, Strength for a Reason and many more, the RedTops created a powerful track-record and raised the band's credibility among promoters, other bands and fans around the globe.
“We built our own fan base by bustin’ our ass, night in and night out,” said Tony. “Our fans have been with us since they first saw us and we really feel that our roots and foundation have been integral and beneficial to our progress and evolution as a band.”

The RedTops are a powerful and traditional Hardcore band that present a blue-collar work ethic and early NYHC principles to their vast audience. Since their inception in the late 90s, their music has become increasingly heavier, something the members have wanted to work toward. “Left for Dead…”, their first release with Universal Warning Records, combines the feel of early Boston Hardcore (ie Slapshot & SSD) with the mid-to-late 80s NYHC sounds of Gorilla Biscuits, Judge, Sick of it All, Side by Side, Killing Time, Youth of Today, and Shelter as well as Metal acts like Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I., Anthrax, and Iron Maiden.
"Often times, our music gets misinterpreted as violent and destructive but if you ever listen to what the bands are saying, the messages are actually really positive and unifying - it happens alot at Hardcore and Metal shows, “said Tony, frontman for the RedTops. “We would like to transcend that aspect of hardcore.”
