Formerly 'Rare Unit', the 8 piece live outfit Poetiquette have been synonymous with production duo Jafar and Andy 'Touch' Fingers, since Rare Unit's first three well-received releases on the Kwaito Recordings imprint, back in 2003. Over the last 5 years, the group has developed considerably into a collective of seasoned musicians.
With a veteran rhythm section now boasting drummer Toby Goodman (Kid Creole & The Coconuts/ Anna Krantz) and bassist Pete Billington (Alison Moyet/ Jamie Cullum), the outfit calls upon a rich musical heritage and diversity, something that contributes greatly to their live sets. Highlight performances take in several appearances at Cargo, London (alongside Gilles Peterson, Jazmine Sullivan, Roachford, Don-E & Bugs In the Attic), The Player Sessions, Leeds (with Norman Jay), three appearances at the Ministry Of Sound London, Stuart Patterson's Soulsonic & Barrio events, a National tour of Poland - extensively covered by Dj Mag’s Simon Morrison, alongside Artizan’s various label parties at Neighbourhood, The Telegraph, The Nottinghill Arts Club and beyond.
Poetiquette have continued refining their sound to accommodate the numerous layers of Soulful music in the modern age. Their first album on Artizan Music, ‘Lyrically Speaking’, is testament to that.
