Do you wanna know where these songs came from? When I'm traveling around Italy singing opera I spend a lot of time sitting around in restaurants stuffing huge forkfuls of spaghetti into my mouth.

"Mmmm, boy!," says Oliver. "I do like spaghetti!"

Chew your bone and let me finish my story. Anyway, sometimes when I'm eating I scribble little poems on my napkin just to pass the time. Rap versions of 'The 3 Little Pigs', 'The Gingerbread Man'–––stuff like that.

After a while I found I was singing these poems under my breath, making up melodies for them as I went along. When I found myself singing one of them out loud at an opera rehearsal, I got comments from one of my colleagues.

"Yo, Kelly!" he shouted. "Attsa nice song! But why you no sing-a da Rossini?"

So this CD is a recording I made of some of my napkin songs. I can't really tell you what it all means, except to say that it all came out of my head when I gave my mind and my heart and my music a chance to roll around together for a while. It's fun. You should try it sometime.

Almost forgot––if you listen really carefully you can hear Oliver barking in one of the songs. Oy, he always insists on singing along!
