This recording is based on the powerful sounds that are considered to have emanated from the damru (divine drum) of Lord Shiva. These fourteen sounds, chanted in precise succession, have forceful vibrations that are believed to keep the mind stable and improve our memory and concentration. After the short initial signature prayer, sung by Pandit Jasraj, there are three lengthy tracks, with durations of 31 minutes, 19 minutes and 14 minutes, respectively. The vocal sounds are more staccato and closer together here, more in the realm of traditional chants from the East than the lovely singing of many westernized versions.
