Guitarplayer Luit de Jong formed Mysto Dysto in 1981. The name Mysto Dysto was taken from the ‘Loco Box’ distortion effect pedal, which got really bad reviews in all magazines. Bass player Han Koops and drummer Klaus van den Berg completed the band in March 1982.

Every Saturday they practiced at ‘Het Pakhuis’ (The Warehouse) in Coevorden. So many fans came to see the band during these rehearsal days that it seamed more like a concert than just a rehearsal. During those days Luit met guitarplayer Marcel Verdurmen who was playing in another band at that time and joined Mysto Dysto in January 1983. Two months later bass player Han Koops left the band and Mysto Dysto was a trio again.

Due to the fact that the band couldn’t find a good bassplayer, the two guitarplayers both took care of this, as well as singing lead vocals. In spring 1983 four songs were recorded in the Plahadima Studios in Heerlen; Heavy Metal Fools, Black Rose, What’s in my car and Everything I need.

During the summer holidays of 1983 Luit met Eric van der Heide. At that time lead singer of a rock band. Due to the facts that Eric liked metal music more than rock music he decided to join Mysto Dysto in 1984.
At that time Mysto Dysto’s line-up was:

Guitar/bass - Luit de Jong
Drums - Klaus van den Berg
Guitar/bass - Marcel Verdurmen

In July 1984 the band recorded the demo ‘Heavy Guys Don’t look back’. The 8-track demo was of poor quality, but metal fans liked the demo a lot and it sold very well. In November 1984 the band recorded another demo containing four songs, among them ‘Bombastic Rock’ and ‘Automatic artillery’. This demo gave them the opportunity to play more across the country.

While all band members put more time into the band lead singer Eric decided to leave the band, because his life was to busy outside Mysto Dysto. Soon a new lead singer was found in the person of Peter Meijering and his high vocals suited the music well. The fans were begging for an album and the band decided to record it in 1986.

They recorded their first and only album `The rules have been disturbed' during one week. The album was produced in a limited edition of only 500 copies.

On the 7th of February 1986 the album was presented to a lot of fans from all over the country. The album got really good reviews in all metal magazines and they did a lot of concerts al over the Netherlands.

Unfortunately a record contract is not offered and the band decided to record another demo `No Aids in Hell`. This demo led to a record deal with Disaster Records in Germany, but resulted in the end of Mysto Dysto and the beginning of Mandator.
