In a scene where most bands originality is dismissed at the first strum of their guitar, comes a uniquely chaotic five piece hailing from Danville, New Hampshire: Mercury Switch. A perfect blend of raw metal, hardcore, melodic overtones and poetically mastered lyrical content, Mercury Switch released their Indianola Records debut If You Love Me, Youd Take Me to the City in fall of 2003. Since that time the band has been touring here and there with bands ranging from Haste the Day to As I Lay Dying, appearing at such fests as New England Hardcore and Metal, Macrock, Furnace Fest, and Cornerstone. June 2005 saw the release of their new full length record Time to Shine with Indianola Records followed by more touring around the country. Be on the look out for them in town near you.
After hearing both If you love and Time to Shine I only can come to the conclusion that Mercury Switch is the Iron Maiden and Pink Floyd of the Hardcore scene. Their musical philosophy is to have no musical philosophy; no boundaries what so ever, just do what you think is cool. And guess what? It worked out unbelievably well.
