Marble Sounds is the latest creation of Pieter Van Dessel, who lived in Montreal for a few years but is now back in his native country Belgium.
Van Dessel is also a collaborator and one half of the electro-pop duo Plastic Operator whose debut album “Different Places” (Fine Day Records) has been racking up airplay in Europe and as far as Indonesia.
The first EP of Marble Sounds, ‘A Painting Or A Spill’ is recorded in Montreal and forms part of new solo work with an uplifting, yet melancholic and sweetly acerbic sound. Marble Sounds takes Van Dessel’s song writing to a new level, reflecting today’s desire to hear, feel and think about songs rather than simply listen to them.
The EP sees Van Dessel joined by compatriot Johan De Coster (from the Belgian band Soon) on drums, Alexandre Champigny on guitar ("Redesign"), Ivy Smits (best known as the voice on Arsenals "Switch") on vocals ("Something that we'd never do"), and Canadian singer/songwriter Baptiste on backing vocals (“Redesign” and “Good Occasions”).
All tracks written by Pieter Van Dessel, except for the song "Something that we'd never do" written by Pieter Van Dessel and Ivy Smits. All tracks produced by Pieter Van Dessel.
