Louis Bernstone's first 21 years was spent in Lower Hutt and Wellington where he played in various bands on bass and keyboards throughout highschool and university. Finally, Louis met Chris Balm, and they embarked on a 2 year crusade to treat NZ to its first all synth and sequencer night club band.
The wide variety of music Louis played shows its influence in the mixture of style, and gave him a grounding in songwriting and musicianship that he utilises today in his music. Having gone full circle from band based musician to electronic musician and back again means that the music is a melting pop of techniques. Songs are written on guitar, or keyboard with melodic ideas, or from loops and sample based phrases. This is then taken and fleshed out in his new studio in Surrey, UK, where he plays and produces all his tracks. A born and bred New Zealander, Louis' sound is rooted in the guitar + electronic combinations originated by bands such as Mi-Sex and Split Enz. Other more recent influences are more contemporary, and include bands such as Feeder, Goldfrapp and Bjork.
