If you’re living in Argentina and you’re playing rock ‘n’ roll you do it for the love of the music. You don’t do it to get girl (well maybe every once in a while). You don’t do it to pay the rent. You do it in the hours around nine and five, because you have to work to pay the rent. If you’re Los Natas, you do it because the world needs you to. Because you do something special. Something nobody else can do; After all, Buenos Aires has burnouts too.
A decade ago, when grunge ruled supreme, Los Natas were just finding their way out of the third world and into the underground. They paid their dues like any other band, but paid them ten fold for being from South America. Four albums (several on Man’s Ruin), three 10” singles, and eight+ contributions to compilations released on three continents lay the groundwork for their greatest creation yet: “Corsario Negro.” Produced by heavy hitter Billy Anderson (Melvins, Neurosis, Acid King, Red House Painters, Fantomas, Helios Creed, just to name a few), whom took time out of his busy schedule to fly down to Argentina for two weeks and mastermind the project. “Corsario Negro” reaches dynamic new heights in what can only be described as "LATIN HEAVY PSYCH," (Think Sepultura meets The Verve... without any screaming). The high’s are higher, the low’s are lower and what’s left inbetween is the only truth the music has left to offer.
Los Natas isn’t modest about any of this. They have received critical acclaim in Rolling Stone (3+ stars), Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Alternative Press... shared the stage with Alabama Thunderpussy, Queens of The Stone Age, Samiam and have plans to head out sometime this year with Nebula. As Sergio Ch. says “We are the first and only ones in the whole world that do this kind of music... we don t need to compete with other bands in heaviness, bad assinesss or ‘70ness just because no one does what we do.”
