LongShot’s debut full length album is exceptionally refined for a first offering on CD. It is a refreshing return to the original sound of Hip Hop: A blend of jazz grooves with acoustic live instruments and poetic and introspective lyrics that defy the “bling-bling” themes of contemporary mainstream rap, instead reflecting the realities of a childhood spent in Chicago’s gritty innercity.

Far from a plea for pity by the unfortunate, however, LongShot embraces his duty as a role model to his listeners with soulful and positive messages that preach self-reliance, hope, and the rewards of hard work.

But that’s only half of the album. Tracks like “No Wins” featuring Juice deliver red-hot performances that will excite any rap listener with a broad-based club/party sound and killer lyrics.
