It has been an absolute joy and pleasure growing up in the beautiful Rose City of Portland, OR. As a home grown N.E.P native I have established strong roots and a definite sense of purpose while residing in Laurelhurst. My strong family foundation and the lifelong friendships forged in the ‘hood’ have helped me establish myself personally, socially, and professionally. I will never forget the importance of my Laddington, Couch, and Flanders blood.
Musically I continue to hone my lyrical skills, which are the basis of my music. I started writing rhymes with my poetic mentor Jeff “Slim” Naylor, while warming up my melodic style harmonizing with my brother Cullen McClay. It was shortly thereafter that my good friend Ryan “Babe” Stevenson introduced me to the guitar. I have now been playing for five years and performance seems to come naturally to me thanks to all of my friends who have helped create the artist that I am. My practice time consists of a relaxing regimen of daily decompression (hence the context of most Keegan Smith/Paul Bustrin songs). I sit back and begin to write, sing, and play about the day’s happenings, from the stresses and troubles that besiege all of us to the blissful experiences of youth, middle age, and those days to come.
Though I have limited (but never dull) stage experience, I owe so much of my growth to all of my Family at Pine Forest Camp in Greeley, PA. They have pushed me to continue my development as a musician as well maturing as a song writer and I thank them for that.
I will continue writing songs with my fellow compatriot Paul “Big Peazy” Bustrin in order to fine tune our act as we ready ourselves to become a performing entity. As interest and buzz continues to be generated our music will only get better. Thank you for your love and support this journey will be a product of all of us.
Peace,
Keegan “The Local Artist” Smith
