LARA GEORGE – HER PROFILE

Depending on what circumstances you meet her in, you may walk away with different impressions. Is she shy and quiet, or vibrant and outspoken? Is she mellow, a bit reserved, or very outgoing and crowd-loving? Or could it be that she tends to be a bit of all of those things?

‘I’m quite an extremist’, is how she describes herself. ‘Some may even consider me enigmatic.’ Whichever way it goes, the truth is, Lara George manages to show all the sides of her personality very strongly through the writing and expressions of her songs and music.

Born into a family of five in Lagos, Nigeria on the 23rd of June to Mr. and Mrs. Oluwole Bajomo, Lara is a music-lover through and through. Her first real opportunity at singing came when she joined the choir of Queens’ College Yaba Lagos (her alma-mater), where she sang a lot of the lead vocals in the choral renditions. She went on the University of Lagos Akoka (Unilag) where she bagged a Masters degree in Architecture. Her journey through Unilag brought her into contact with Ty, Emem and Dapo with whom she formed the very popular Gospel group known as KUSH. Years later and now very happily married to Gbenga George- a legal practitioner and her manager- Lara has released her solo debut album on Westside Music imprint which is guaranteed to take the world by storm.

Lara is a very sensitive, soulful person, even though she can also be very playful. Her music transcends mere rhetoric and delves into the very heart of any matter on which she chooses to dwell. She writes most of her own songs and is able to express that depth within her to the outside world in an irresistible manner and with the most powerful and angelic voice anyone ever heard.

The range of her style is as wide as that of her influences, and for that reason, one can feel the eclectic blend of soul, pop, R&B, funk, hip-hop and good old traditional Nigerian blend in her music.

With an aim to inspire and uplift all who listen to the message within while enjoying the fun that is her music, Lara who has oftentimes been described as ‘the Lady of Soul’, has only just begun a journey into self-fulfillment and actualization. Judging from the great heights reached in past exploits with her former group, one can only conclude that with this new bold step out on her own, the sky is merely the stepping stone!
