Lander formed in March 04 from the remains of a project Lee and former guitarist Neal had been playing in for a number of years. Paul joined on drums at the beginning of March. At this point Lee played guitar whilst they had a bass guitarist who had joined shortly after Paul. After touring for a the remainder of 04 the band went into the studio to record their first EP Pretend Its The End and it received great reviews from the media and press. Following this in Jan 05 the band signed a management deal with London based management company 42 Live. The band basically toured for the majority of 05 gaining more fans and playing in more venues. In the Autumn of 05 42 Live decided that they were going to abandon the band/artist management department of the company to concentrate of other elements of the company, so Lander were now without management. They decided to write some new material and record a self financed album to release with an indie label. This saw out 2005. Lander had finished the album by Jan 06 and decided to send it out to a number of record labels etc. From this they had a few offers on the table to release either the album or a part of it. As well as this they had a management company (PPD Music) get involved in an advisory roll to help them out with the business side of thing. Unfortunately as Lander were about to sign a publishing and distribution deal to release the album Danny (the bass guitarist at the time) decided to call it a day to concentrate on university so everything got put on hold until it was figured out what to do. They struggled to find a bass guitarist and PPD had booked a fairly big gig they decided that Lee should play bass instead of guitar until it was decided what to do. This then lead to the band finding a new member and taking different direction musically to what they had done before. A session vocalist called Jess, who Lee and Neal had worked with for many years on recordings, most recently at that point on the album had become available and they decided that her role should be more permanent. As a change in direction, a synth was introduced (Jess was now playing synth and backing vocals) to fill out the missing guitar part. This has lead to quite a big change sound wise and they found new ways of putting songs together.Since the deal was signed to release the EP Neal has now decided to come out of music after 8 years of touring and recording. So there is a search to find a guitarist so that the remaining members can promote and tour the new EP. Watch this Space!
