Enya stlye reflective worship - recreating the old hymns in a new light
Delicate….Fragile…..Vulnerable….Pure…..these are the thoughts that reach a listeners mind as one hears the music of Canadian born Artist Kristina. She hopes to reach the world with reflective and intimate songs expressing her life experiences (growing up speaking fluent German and French in addition to English) and her passion for the conditions of a human heart and the freedom of worship within her music. Fans of Enya, Michelle Tumes, and Twila Paris will be sure to connect with the delicate effects of classical pop music joining the smooth rhythms of Kristina's music.
She has just finished up in the studio with renowned producer Billy Smiley (WhiteHeart) in Nashville, TN. They have been working on her debut album "Bare My Soul", slated for a fall, 2004 –2005 release.
Smiley has brought in some of the finest musicians in the industry to play on the project: Steve Brewster (Drums – Jewel, Faith Hill), Blair Masters (Programming & Synths – Garth Brooks, Newsboys, Steven Curtis Chapman), Matt Pierson (Bass - Michael W. Smith, Out Of the Grey), John Catchings (Cello – Michael Card), and Mark Baldwin (Classical Guitar – Amy Grant, Michelle Tumes).
Kristina can't think of anything other than worshipping God that makes her feel more deeply that she is doing the thing for which she was created. Her prayer is that her music ministry makes others feel the same way, as she leads them into His presence through heartfelt reflection, worship, and praise.
She has been a worship leader since she was 17 years old. As a pastors daughter, she started out leading worship at her fathers Mennonite church in Winnipeg; continued at a Baptist church in Toronto while in college and since then, is serving in multiple settings in the Phoenix area. Besides planning and leading corporate worship, she has led children's worship, singles retreats, women's retreats, and conferences.
Kristina's desire is for people to experience genuine, deep, fulfilling worship; whether it's in a church service or in a concert setting. She brings a fresh and unique worship experience because of her multicultural background and musical training. Her commitment to singing the old and the new provides a variety in her song repertoire that everyone will connect with. Audiences have already responded with enthusiasm to the hymns, such as the new arrangement of 'Holy, Holy, Holy', the gentle setting of 'Rock of Ages" (Wash Me Clean), the retro sounding 'Open My Eyes that I May See' (Spirit Divine), and the powerful rendition of Anne Steele's 'My Maker and My King' (You Alone), as well as Chris Tomlin's 'We Fall Down'. A young modern version of Twila Paris, her music defies typical categorizations, yet retains a worshipful element.
Kristina says, "My desire is not to call attention to myself or bring glory to myself, but to call attention to God and to cause people to think about him—that's all…nothing more, nothing less."
