Josie Cotton, 80's New Wave pop singer widely known for her hit "Johnny Are You Queer?" and her performance in the landmark film Valley Girl, continues her surprising return to music with a new pet project, Invasion Of The B-Girls. The record is the first of its kind: a collection of cover versions of B movie theme songs, from the infamous to the forgotten. A lifelong fan of horror, sci-fi, grindhouse, and exploitation films, Cotton pays homage to title songs from Russ Meyer's Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! and Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls, Ted V. Mikels' Girl In Gold Boots, Joseph Cates' Who Killed Teddy Bear? and other "great songs from bad movies" (as she describes them). Lead single "Maneaters" from the Herschell Gordon Lewis gore classic She Devils On Wheels features a dance remix from electro-hipster Ursula 1000 and an outrageous music video wherein Cotton leads an all-girl scooter gang on a campy man-killing spree. Produced by Cotton herself along with punk legend Geza X (Black Flag, Dead Kennedys) and Bill Rhea (Del Rubio Triplets), Invasion boasts all real instruments (including the renown Tower Of Power horn section and a 14-piece string ensemble) and liner notes from legendary filmmaker John Waters.
