Aug 10, 2006 – The latest issue of Vanity Fair raves: “Joseph Arthur’s Nuclear Daydream is a glorious work of art from this exceptional singer-songwriter.” His songs have been covered by the likes of Michael Stipe and Chris Martin of Coldplay. He had a generation of fans “discover” him through The O.C. He was the first American artist signed to Peter Gabriel’s World Music Label – Real World. His first four albums were some of the most critically acclaimed releases of the last ten years. For many artists that would be a full career already, but Joseph Arthur is just getting started.
He returns with his strongest, most passionate album to date with the forthcoming release of Nuclear Daydream on September 19th, 2006. The album contains twelve brand new songs including the first single “Enough To Get Away.” It’s Arthur’s first release since 2004’s Our Shadows Will Remain which was named one of the top albums of 2004 by: Entertainment Weekly, New York Post, Boston Globe, Chicago Sun-Times and countless others.
However, this time around Arthur has taken his career matters into his own hands by founding his own new label – Lonely Astronaut Records, which will be distributed by RED/Sony.
“Starting a label is crazy, everyone tries to talk you out of it,” Arthur commented. “Our plan is to put great records out often. There is a new sense of freedom blossoming out of this venture.”
Arthur will be making the rounds on national television beginning this Sunday morning (August 13th) when he performs two new songs: “You Are Free” & “When I Was Running Out Of Time” from Nuclear Daydream; along with a sit down interview with KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic host Nic Harcourt for A&E’s Breakfast With The Arts. Joseph will be on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic on October 16th. He's also scheduled to appear on two late night television shows: October 10th (Letterman), and October 17th (Craig Ferguson) performing “Too Much To Hide.”
