LINER NOTES

“CELESTIAL REIKI II” is a continuation of the sound and energy that was initially created by Laraaji and myself back in 1986 and finally released as a CD within this new millennium. At that time, when it was only available as a cassette, Yoga Journal named it “Best Sustained Trance Music of the Year”. We are grateful that “CELESTIAL REIKI” continues to be so well received by our many listeners.

“CELESTIAL REIKI II” began when Laraaji and I returned from the Healing Sounds Intensive in July of 2001. The Healing Sounds Intensive is a training program that takes place here in Colorado. Our participants come from throughout the world to experience 9 days of “Toning, Teaching and Transformation”. We co-create extraordinary fields of Light & Love through Sound during that time.

Laraaji and I were still resonating from the energy of the Healing Sounds Intensive experience when we turned on the recording equipment. It had literally been years since we had spent any “down” time together—particularly with regard to creating sacred sound space near recording equipment. What a blessing to be able to joyfully manifest this time and space together then. The celestial sonics flowed smoothly and effortlessly in my recording studio. “CELESTIAL REIKI II” is the result.

“CELESTIAL REIKI II” is designed to enhance all different types of healing and transformation, including of course Reiki, as well as massage, yoga, meditation, guided visualization and any other modality that can utilize the positive, life affirming sonic energy on this recording. The sounds on it are also great to enhance relaxation and reduce stress. Many people who have received advance copies of this recording have it on as background music, playing throughout the day to create a beautiful environment for home or office.

On “CELESTIAL REIKI II”, Laraaji and I are honored to be joined by our extraordinary sound healing and musical friend, Sarah “Saruah” Benson. Sarah, a Reiki Master herself, has taught and performed with both of us for many years, including at the Healing Sounds Intensive. Both she and Laraaji contributed vocals to my award winning The Lost Chord. Her exquisite flute playing blends beautifully into the energetic tapestry Laraaji and I manifested together. In particular, listen to the harmonic landscape of interweaving melodies she creates on the first piece, “Convergence”, as indeed, the energies of Light, Love and Sound meet in a matrix of intentional healing sounds. Then journey forth into the timelessness of “Dreamtime”, where fantasy becomes reality and the impossible becomes possible in a new world of creative potential. Finally, join us in “Reverence” as we commune with the energies of gratitude and appreciation for the new choices of healing and transformation we create.

As with our previous recording, “CELESTIAL REIKI II” does not utilize any specific sonic system of healing—no predetermined scales, harmonies, melodies, instruments or the like were utilized for this recording. Nor were we consciously involved with the use of psycho-acoustic frequencies, or intervals during its creation. We simply allowed ourselves to be conduits of sacred sound, instruments to be played by spirit—focusing our intuition and intention on projecting the healing energies of Light and Love through the sounds that were being created. We trust we have been successful with this.

Laraaji, Sarah and I are proud to present this new collaboration to you. “CELESTIAL REIKI II” is a truly wondrous vibrational waveform to accompany and enhance healing and transformation of any form. It is beautiful to listen to—soothing and oh so serene! We have done our best to assist both personal and planetary healing and transformation with this recording. Enjoy!

Jonathan Goldman
Jonathan Goldman is a musician, author and teacher. For over 20 years, he has been an international authority on sound healing and a pioneer in the field of harmonics. Jonathan is the author of HEALING SOUNDS, SHIFTING FREQUENCIES and THE LOST CHORD. He is the director of the Sound Healers Association and President of Spirit Music, in Boulder, Colorado. Laraaji Nadananda
Laraaji Nadananda is a musician and teacher of sound, consciousness and laughter. He has helped pioneer the field of music and transformation. He facilitates workshops and performs throughout the world. A pioneering artist of ambient and meditative music, he has worked with many of the best known producers of new music, including Brian Eno, Ambient 3: Days of
Radiance, Bill Lazwell, Divination, Roger Eno and Michael Brook, Flow Goes the Universe and the Relaxation Company’s Cascade. His celestial zither, synthesizer and voice have been utilized in many varied types of music, from ambient and new age to techno and rap.

Sarah Benson
Sarah “Saruah” Benson is a master sound healer, teacher and initiator into the mysteries of sacred sound. She is an embodiment of the Divine Mother and has imparted this loving energy through her voice and music for over 30 years. Saruah is the founder of the Earth Sound Light Center, and the author of WITHIN THE SOUND. An extraordinary flutist, pianist and vocalist, her recordings include the much acclaimed Flutes of Interior Time, Sound of Light, Opening, Healing and Beloved.
