Joker's Wild is an International Quartet Champion of the Barbershop Harmony Society (S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., Inc.)

Beginning with the cover, which is a hologram of all four Joker's faces superimposed on Mount Rushmore, to the opening measures of the CD's first track, the Turtles' "Happy Together," the listener is on notice that they are in for the unexpected! Though definitely maintaining an unmistakable allegiance to a vertical, close harmony, seventh chord dominated sound, the song selections, the production, and the arrangements themselves reveal a delightful whimsy. "Happy Together," from the original Nylons' score, employs echo and a vigorous nonsense-syllable bass, culminating in a soaring tenor note; a Freshmanesque "Laura" and "Moonlight In Vermont," both arrangements by Bob Greenberg, show the group¹s fondness for vocal jazz. "Crazy," "Love Me Tender," "Operator" and "Wir Machen Musik," sung in German, are some other highlights. However, it would be fair to say that these 1994 Champions have produced a CD that finds the sweet spot all the way through.
