A musical journey and parable depicting God as the Master Musician and we as his instruments.

God is the Master Musician. We are his instruments. We become his heirs and co-workers when we humbly learn how to play music under his careful expert instruction. Then we go on to perform with others in his symphony orchestra.

The Master Musician is a musical recording and book in the parable tradition based on this simile.

God's grace is represented by the making of a fine musical instrument from a tree in the forest. Our human response is portrayed by learning to play the various musical styles of history. Life in the church and the world is symbolized by playing with others, all the way from a band to a symphony orchestra. Lastly, an attitude represented by Jesus' teaching in the blessings of the beatitudes is needed through it all.

It is my prayer that, through listening to this recording and reading the book, we will all learn the lessons of the simile. I hope they will help us to meet the challenges of living together in Christ, both in the day in and day out realities of personal life and the larger than life issues that face the existence of civilization and our whole modern world.
