INTRODUCING IDIOTCHILD

As a solo artist under the name Idiotchild, over the years Noel Maurice has performed and recorded both alone and with various line-ups.

At present Idiotchild plays as a three-piece with Max Nauta on contra- and electric-bass and Thomas Fietz on drums.

Idiotchild's first full album is released in September of 2006 on London label IncinerateMedia.

Idiotchild appears in an award-winning documentary about street music, "Strassenmusik", which also features one of his songs, "Man of Culture".
There is an accompanying music CD available on Lieblingslied Records also featuring one of Idiotchild's songs ("Preacherman") in acoustic form.

Idiotchildl appeared last year on RTL Explosiv and Berlin TV, and also appears in an image film of Berlin commissioned by the company Ampelmann.

Music from Idiotchild has been used on an American independently-released film by LR Benner, "The Nudger".
From 2001 to 2002 Noel Maurice co-ran the independent Berlin label Sleepwalk Discs on which he brought out two Idiotchild EP's, "Writhe in This" and "Honey".

He has been played on Edinburgh Radio and Suffolk Radio in Britain.

His first EP, "Idiotchild", was released independently in '97, and produced by Paul Lucas of the Element of Crime.

Later on production was handled by London-based American producer Konrad Kinard, formerly of the New York band Slash Orchestra.

Various of his songs have been available to hear under Tunebandit.com, where for six months he was the featured alternative artist; pirateradioberlin.com, IncinerateMedia.com, Peoplesound.com and MP3.com/Idiotchild where he featured repeatedly in the European Alternative Top 10 at various times.

Performances

Over the last years Noel has performed with different line-ups in various Berlin clubs including Tachelles, Klub der Republik, Mudd Club, Bastard;

at the Baitz International Arts Festival;

the SS Stubnitz in Rostock;

and at the Pressure Point in Brighton and the Butterfly Lounge in London.

In 2005 Idiotchild took a break from performing in order to work on new material. With his new band he recorded the upcoming album 'Dumbdown', having moved away from his electro experiments and back to a more organic sound with a live drummer and bass player.
