GINGERJAKE formed in Minneapolis, MN in November of 2002, Amanda Harris (Vocals), Ian Butler-Severson (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Eric Rotter (Bass, Backing Vocals) and Joe Rotter (Drums) have created a unique style of alternative rock that’s been described by numerous fans and critics alike as the “perfect blend of beauty and brutality.
Prior to Gingerjake, Amanda made a name for herself as a solo artist while Ian, Eric and Joe were members of the now defunct band Two Ton Crutch. When a mutual friend introduced them, the chemistry was instant.
Since then, they’ve embarked on a non-stop assault of the greater Midwest club scene playing shows in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, Kentucky and beyond.
Band History:
During the spring of 2003, during their 7th show ever, they placed 2nd in the Twin Cities hard rock station's 93X Battle of The Bands, moving on to play the station's annual 93X-Fest in Somerset, Wisconsin, sharing the stage with such bands as Sum 41, Taproot, and CKY.
In October 2003, Gingerjake journeyed to Orange County, CA where they hooked up with Producer/Engineer Cameron Webb, who has engineered albums for 311, Godsmack and Motorhead and produced So Cal punk legends Social Distortion. They returned with the blistering six song Paralysis E.P. Released independently in March 2004, the band kicked it off by packing The Quest Club in Minneapolis with over 1,000 fans. The single "Karats" quickly received airplay on 93X’s prime time audience judged "Cage Match" with Gingerjake being crowned “retired champions" as they beat out national acts for the entire week. Since its release, the E.P. has rapidly scanned over 4,000 copies and receives regular radio airplay on Midwest stations.
In May 2004, Gingerjake returned to the 93X Battle Of The Bands and won, securing a coveted main stage slot at the 93X Riverfest concert along with most notably, Sevendust, Papa Roach, and Cold.
In September 2004, the Paralysis EP was nominated as “Best Hard Rock Recording" by the prestigious Minnesota Music Academy.
On October 10th 2004, the band returned to The Quest for the release of their highly anticipated live concert DVD, again packing the club with devout fans.
On January 14th, 2005, Gingerjake's "Karats" was added to XM Radio's "Unsigned" show where it receives regular airplay.
A highlight for Gingerjake in 2005 was playing back to back dates as direct support for Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains) and his rock-star line up band, Cardboard Vampyres. A Friday night at the Quest in Minneapolis and Saturday at Summer Fest in Milwaukee, WI playing to a capacity crowd of over 5,000 fans.
Gingerjake kicked off 2006 with it's release of “Get It Get Off / Live". The mostly live EP consists of a studio version of the single “Get It Get Off", a multi-media video for “Get It Get Off", as well as seven previously unreleased live tracks. It was released Friday, January 13th ’06 as a limited edition release which quickly sold out of it’s only pressing. The album's tracks are now available for download only on Gingerjake's myspace through SNOCAP/PAYPAL.
Performance highpoints in 2006 included being invited back to Summerfest for a second year in a row where Gingerjake were direct support to SOIL and P.O.D.
Another summer highlight of 2006: Gingerjake won the opportunity, and was hand picked to open to a capacity crowd for the legendary Alice In Chains at the Sioux Empire Fair in Sioux Falls, SD.
Currently, Gingerjake has just finished a series of midwest cd release shows in support of it's highly anticipated new full lenght album "How to Kiss the Devil Goodbye." The 10 song full-length has sold 600 copies (from off the stage live performances) in just under 4 weeks since it's release on June 9th, 2007. A highlight of the release shows included selling out The Rock Nightclub at Gingerjake's home town Minneapolis, MN release show, packing the club to a capacity of nearly 600 fans.
Another highlight for Gingerjake in the recent wake of their new release was performing for a third year in a row at Milwaukee's Summerfest where Gingerjake was direct support to Chevelle on the US Celluar Stage, playing to a capacity crowd of over 4,000 fans.
Also, in June 2007, Gingerjake returned from writing sessions in Los Angeles, CA where they've begun writing for yet another full length record, with hopes of having another release ready by summer 2008.
Gingerjake's immediate goals consist of planning short tours to the east coast and southern US to continue touring in support of their new record, as well simultaneously working on new music.
