“The first time I heard a song by Hank Williams it reminded me of the landscapes of la pampa, where I was born”. This is how Goin describes his passion for the different forms of North American folk music. A unique and recognizable style emerges from this Argentinian rock musician from Pigue, province of Buenos Aires, a style that is a mixture of his own background with The Beatles, Doc Watson, Mississipi John Hurt, Billie Holliday, Big Hill Broonzy and Merle Haggard among others.
A connoisseur of music born out of the heat of folk, Fernando Goin is a pioneer of the blues and country blues in Argentina.
He attended jazz, blues and folk music festivals, receiving several awards. In order to polish his style he made a pilgrimage to Nashville, USA, where he further his musical education in blues clubs and where he even managed to surprise some of the founding fathers of the genre.
Besides being a producer, teacher, music researcher and director of a guitar school, Goin owns one of the most important folk music collections in the world and was signed by record labels of great standing such as Document Records (Austria) as a consultant for prewar blues and country music collections. In Austria he recorded a jam session with blues legend Taj Mahal, that remains unreleased until today.
