Erik Tolstrup (b. 1958) studied with Pernille S. Sørensen and Jan-lnge Wijk at the Academy of Music in Odense where he received his Performance Diploma in 1986 and a Teacher's Degree in 1988. In addition, for one and a half years Erik Tolstrup studied with Jose Tomas (Spain) and with Jorge Martinez Zarate (Argentina).
He has participated actively in master classes held by Odair Assad, David Russel and Julian Bream.
He has made broadcastings and given numerous recitals both at home and abroad. In 1989 he won the 2nd. prize and AUT's Grand Prix for young Scandinavian musicians (modern music) performing S. E. Werner's kodicil l.
Erik Tolstrup has given first performances of several works, and it is his interest in modern music and its expansion of the guitar repertory that has been the driving force behind the production of this CD.
