They come with a non-standard sound; a classic timeless sound recognisable or comparable to the forged classics from the likes of the 70’s/80’s Rock pioneers. When the A&R team at the studios of the Digital Jukebox heard their demo they new straight away that they had struck oil. The band was called in and signed to the label at an instance.
The start of Electric Ave. began in September 2005 when they were brought together on a music course that they each started individually and not having met each other before. Eventually with time they began to meet up for a jam and would just play freely together with whatever ideas were thought of at the time. Little did they realise how a mere spark of each band member’s skill would result into a full scale blaze of hits. The boys began meeting up with the intention of writing and performing their own songs and began producing a sound purely through the combination of their own individual styles of playing, and with no deliberate action created a mixture of Rock/Funk/Blues.
Electric Ave. consists of four members which are Andrew Wharton (Guitar + Vocals), David Ross (Guitar), (Bass), and Joe Hill-Jayne (Drums). The individual influences range from Curtis Mayfield, Paul Weller, Stevie Wonder, Cream, Jaco Pastorias, and Hendrix…They decided to write songs in a way which meant they didn’t follow a set pattern, creating rhythm parts that allowed an element of looseness. Which when playing live allows them to depart from their originals in a hope to perform the unexpected. You will be not only amazed but shocked by the electrifying sounds of the Electric Avenue.
