DJ Starscream (Sid Wilson III) has been DJ1ing since 1992 and playing other instruments on top of that, he has been developing several styles of new music over the years from the metal mayhem of Slipknot, turntablist jungle mash ups, to classical. This guy tries to dip his hands into every genre he can flip. His involvement in various music genres has a deeper motive than just self-satisfaction. Sid says, 3S¹by fans seeing that myself being into several different styles of music I can show the younger fans that it1s okay to enjoy Metallica, Prodigy, 50 Cent, and Johnny Cash all at the same time. Music all comes from one source, one energy, one world, one note, therefore there is a connection between all music which should allow the individual to find something in all music which they enjoy and can relate to others through this knowledge. This is one of the many keys to life.2 Sid1s purpose of "The New Leader" is to take a sneak peek into the various different styles he has been working on behind the scenes for the last few years. Expect an individual album for every style of music you hear on this solo release.
Sid Wilson, 28-year-old turntablist, composer and rockstar DJ Starscream's vast knowledge and appreciation of all music is attributed to his family, his own curiosity of the technical aspects of his first love, and how various parts of different music and songs could mash together. DJ Starscream listens to and experiments with all varieties of music ranging from classical, hip-hop, mash up, jungle, breakbeat, IDM and metal. He is an avid piano player and scratch composer. In the studio, DJ Starscream is a perfectionist in every sense. He recently built a massive home studio to record up and coming pop and metal bands in Iowa. He is constantly pushing himself and his music to extreme limits. Onstage, his performances are mosh-endusing, not only musically but also in his own intense energy and aggressiveness. He lives an extreme lifestyle and pushes it all the edge and back, while having a solid sense of composure, whether on stage or on his motorcycle or snowboard.
Well known for his production and DJ skills as #0 of metal band Slipknot, Starscream blesses the N2O roster with his aggressive DJ style and depth of knowledge of hip hop and jungle. Vestax sponsors his full DJ gear set up and Electric Sunglasses, DVS Shoes and Matix sponsors his style. Starscream is now off on a 2-year tour with Slipknot and busy producing bands and creating new music for N2O Records. He recently was a recipient of a Grammy Award for being part of Slipknot's best metal album SUBLIMINAL VERSES VOL. 3. His new solo album, "The New Leader" will be released in 2006. It's an all out mash up of his style, aggression and attitude... just plain genius.
In the last year Starscream has produced 3 Slipknot remix mash ups; the world's first fully licensed 3glow in the dark2 scratch tool record, 3Full Metal Scratch-It2 (his on-stage record with the band); 3 exclusive Japanese mix cd's; 1 reggae jungle mash up remix featuring Anthony B featured on Bass Odyssey1s cd Ragga Party Mash Up (N2O-94); signed with Mashupsound.com, and blew up 2 remixes from the major label Japanese pop punk/rap band Smorgas (They sound like a Japanese version of Sublime with a pop-core drum infested twist), both released on N2O Records. In addition, his Starscream DJ videos are the most downloaded I-POD DJ mash up videos in the world. He has an ambitious agenda and you will see him on his new DVD or on tour soon with his new band Ampt featuring hardcore techno legend Rob Gee, SX10, or with his DJ crew The Soundproof Coalition. All of his new video and audio downloads are available at Freeburning Records.
