This is the second Destroyer album, originally released on vinyl in 1998. This was called by Exclaim magazine "the sweetest Canadian release in years", and was pretty much embraced as one of the albums of the year. Brave New Waves also included this album on their list of the 50 greatest Canadian albums of all time. Since City of Daughters, Destroyer has released a string of similarly regarded releases on labels such as Merge, Misra, Sub Pop, Scratch, and Endearing. Destroyer is Dan Bejar, also known to do time in the New Pornographers.
