------------
Back in the mid nineties, dance music was reaching heady heights in Dublin, with new and diverse nights opening up the clubbing world all the time. It wasnt long before Des OLeary caught the fever, and he soon started playing out his own original blend of house - deep and dirty beats with a relentless groove. His first break would prove to be a memorable one - at the now defunct, legendary Kitchen, owned by U2. At 26, Des is now in his ninth year of djing and still maintains a passion for getting the dance floor heaving each and every night.
Combined with his extensive repertoire of club experience in the capital, Des has rocked crowds at festivals such as Creamfields, where he played the Cream Arena and this years Global Gatherings HI FI festival in August. His relentless, intuitive style has garnered much attention, and has played alongside the likes of Justin Robertson, K-Klass, Medicine 8 , David Holmes, Felix the Housecat and Steve Angello to name but a few.
Abroad, his enthusiasm has earned him regular invitations to guest in several highly respected Eastern European venues, including:
With a sound characterised by chunky rhythms and fierce grooves, Des plays right across the spectrum - from tough, jackin house and chopped up beats to a more minimal sound with flawless mixing and unique layering. Performance is key to his style - Des realises and responds to the crowds significance and energy with diverse, spontaneous sets guaranteed to have the room electric and moving all night long.
Producing under the alias 'def disko', des has tracks signed to seedyR, omnis & bellarine records. His first release was featured on Masons BBC Radio 1 mix & recieved decorous reviews in i-dj & dj magazine! Check the player for new tracks.
