David Dondero has been part of Ghostmeat since the beginning when the sole purpose of the label was to release the music of Clemson, SC's Sunbrain which featured Dondero and Ghostmeat founder Russ Hallauer.

When Sunbrain disbanded in 1996, Dondero relocated to Pensacola, FL. He formed the short-lived Flatwheelers with members of Woodenhorse and Pen To Plough. One of the Flatwheelers' only official releases was the song "The Ocean Is The Winter" on Ghostmeat's Yearbook compilation CD released in 1998. During this time, Dondero was also briefly the drummer for Pensacola's This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb.

In 1999, Dondero began touring as a solo artist with the release of his debut album, ...The Pity Party, on Ghostmeat. The album was produced by Andy LeMaster (Drip, Now It's Overhead, Bright Eyes).

The following year Ghostmeat released Dondero's second album Spider West Myshkin And A City Bus. The CD was released with black and white copies of Dondero's artwork in homemade packaging. It was out-of-print shortly after its release.

In 2003, Ghostmeat released the Spider West Myshkin And A City Bus Reissue+2 CD. The reissue includes remastered tracks from the original album, full-color artwork and two previously unreleased bonus songs- "Pre-invasion Jitters" and "Thank You For."

Dondero has subsequently released albums on San Francisco's Future Farmer Records. His sixth solo album, South Of The South, was released on Conor Oberst's (Bright Eyes) label Team Love.
