‘Darkstar’s 1st release is unexpected territory in the current dubstep milieu. Minor piano chords, clockwork percussion and a quirky ending make ‘Break’ a charming combination of humour and pathos: ‘Dead To Me’ is a beautiful dub track featuring softly elegant vocals, of which there has been little so far.’
Melissa Bradshaw, Plan B and Quest Magazine.
“Break” is as deep as it gets. An emotional head-nodder perfect for that moment when the dance takes a meditative turn, while ‘Dead 2 Me’ finds some Portishead-esque soulful vocals riding a giant bassline and fresh steppers drums. More signature deep and lovely business from Darkstar. Light and dark in all the right places.’ Dave Q, Dubwar NYC / DMZ.
